Job Summary

We are seeking a dynamic and motivated Geriatric Medicine Consultant to join our team at East Kent Hospitals University NHS Foundation Trust. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing high-quality care to older patients in Ashford, Canterbury, and Thanet.

Main Duties

The post holder will be part of our team, ensuring that patients receive the highest standards of care in accordance with the National Service Framework for Frailty and Geriatric Medicine and relevant NICE guidance. Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading the Frailty Assessment Unit and developing an Acute Frailty Service
  • Working closely with the Emergency Department team to improve pathways and care for frail patients
  • Contributing to clinical governance and service improvement initiatives
  • Providing education and training to colleagues on geriatric medicine and frailty

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Experience in Frailty and Emergency Department Pathways
  • Professional qualifications, including Full GMC Registration and Specialist Registration or the ability to obtain within 6 months
  • Experience in Audit and Service Improvement
  • Adherence to the GMC code of conduct and upholding Trust Values
