About the Role

This is a senior leadership position within Hannover Re, responsible for leading the company's actuarial, risk management, and compliance functions. The successful candidate will be a strategic partner to the Managing Director and the Senior Leadership Team, providing expert guidance on actuarial, risk management, and compliance matters.

Key Responsibilities
  • Leadership
    • Develop and implement the strategic vision for the actuarial, risk management, and compliance areas, aligning with the company's overall strategy and business objectives.
    • Lead a high-performing team, driving operational efficiency and continual improvement across the teams.
    • Act as a role model, fostering a culture of purpose, values, and leadership fundamentals within Hannover Re.
  • Corporate Actuarial / Actuarial Function
    • Ensure the actuarial function delivers high-quality outputs and insights, meeting the needs of the business and regulatory requirements.
    • Monitor the performance of the in-force portfolio, providing actionable insights and recommendations.
    • Set valuation assumptions and contribute to the development of core bases.
  • Risk Management & Compliance
    • Chair the Branch Risk Committee, overseeing engagement with regulators on risk management and compliance matters.
    • Embed a positive risk management and compliance culture throughout the organization, ensuring the appropriate involvement of the Risk Management and Compliance Functions in projects and initiatives.
    • Establish a view on material current and emerging risks, ensuring clear communication and support for the business to identify and implement actions to monitor, mitigate, or address them.
Requirements
  • Qualifications
    • Qualified Actuary with at least 10 years' post-qualification experience.
  • Experience
    • Proven experience building and leading high-performing teams and delivering operational excellence.
    • Experience working within an actuarial function at a senior level in the UK (re)insurance market.
    • Knowledge of IFRS17 and Solvency II reporting.
  • Skills
    • Excellent leadership skills, with an ability to motivate employees to achieve the company's mission in an ever-changing and dynamic environment.
    • Excellent technical ability and analytical skills, with an ability to break down complex issues, identify messages, and develop solutions.
    • Strong communication and influencing skills, with an ability to create a clear narrative tailored to the needs of the audience.
