We are seeking a dedicated Quality Assurance Engineer to become a vital part of our Quality team at Laing O'Rourke's Centre of Excellence for Modern Construction.

Our facility is recognized for its commitment to offsite manufacturing, serving as a premier precast production site that delivers a variety of products, including walls, floors, and structural components for various projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement the Quality Management System in collaboration with the Quality Lead.
  • Ensure that client and internal quality standards are clearly defined and integrated into a comprehensive Project Quality Plan.
  • Collaborate with Manufacturing Operations, Technical Solutions, Engineering, and Project Coordination to enhance quality levels.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives while ensuring compliance with project specifications.
  • Manage temporary works systems to boost manufacturing efficiency and safety while meeting specification requirements.

Role Overview:

  • Lead the creation and execution of Project Quality Plans and Inspection & Test Plans.
  • Gain a thorough understanding of specification requirements to assist in developing effective manufacturing methods.
  • Ensure that manufacturing task sheets and method statements include necessary systems and processes for quality assurance.
  • Communicate quality requirements to production teams prior to the commencement of manufacturing.
  • Facilitate root cause analysis for non-conforming products to drive continuous improvement.
  • Regularly update processes to ensure compliance with product standards.
  • Review finished products to assess the effectiveness of manufacturing processes and share insights with the team.
  • Promote improvement plans aimed at increasing the Right First Time metric.
  • Report on quality performance trends and identify opportunities for enhancement.
  • Provide feedback on the effectiveness of Quality Control activities and address any quality concerns.
  • Analyze design information to ensure compliance with key interfaces.
  • Identify testing requirements for materials and ensure they are documented in the Project Quality Plan.
  • Act as Temporary Works Supervisor as needed, coordinating with the Temporary Works Coordinator.
  • Advocate for Engineered Safety initiatives.
  • Collaborate effectively with all functions, fostering strong professional relationships.
  • Uphold high standards and represent the Quality and Technical function within the production area.
  • Challenge processes constructively to drive quality improvements, always considering client perspectives.

Required Skills & Experience:

  • Background in Technical/Engineering roles, preferably in project execution.
  • Familiarity with concrete standards and specifications.
  • Understanding of construction tolerances.
  • Strong decision-making capabilities.
  • Commercial awareness and ability to represent the business on quality matters.
