Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Practice Development Nurse to join our team at Swansea Bay University Health Board. The successful candidate will play a key role in the development and delivery of training, education, and professional development across the Health Board.

Main Duties

The post holder will support the Head of Nursing PCTSG, the MCA and Dols Lead Nurse, and other multi-disciplinary colleagues to meet the requirements under the Mental Capacity Act and Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards. This will involve:

  • Developing and delivering training programs to ensure staff feel confident and competent to work within the required systems for MCA/DoLS.
  • Supporting the DoLS team lead to develop and implement systems to support Health Board compliance with the Mental Capacity Act 2005 and the Mental Capacity (Amendment) Act 2019.
  • Undertaking assessments and reviews relating to capacity and best interest decisions across primary and secondary care settings within set timescales.
  • Working in partnership with key stakeholders to develop strategies to ensure a highly motivated and competent workforce.

Person Specification

The ideal candidate will have:

  • A degree in a relevant field.
  • Registration as a Midwife or Nurse.
  • Specialist knowledge of Long Term Care, MCA, and DoLS.
  • Experience of planning and delivering training.
  • Knowledge of Governance processes.
  • Evidence of recent ongoing professional development.

Desirable qualifications include experience of teaching at undergraduate level, practice assessor/teaching and assessing course, and experience of teaching in a clinical environment.
