About the Role

The Practice Development Nurse Specialist will play a crucial part in the development and delivery of training, education, and professional development across the Health Board. This role will support Nurses and other multi-disciplinary colleagues to meet the requirements under the Mental Capacity Act and Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards.

Main Responsibilities

  • Support the Head of Nursing PCTSG, the MCA and Dols Lead Nurse, and contribute to ongoing mandatory and statutory training and continuing professional development needs.
  • Develop and implement systems to support Health Board compliance with the Mental Capacity Act 2005 and the Mental Capacity (Amendment) Act 2019.
  • Deliver training to staff across all Health Board areas, ensuring they feel confident and competent to work within the required systems for MCA / DoLS.
  • Undertake assessments and reviews relating to capacity and best interest decisions across primary and secondary care settings within set timescales.

Requirements

  • Registered Midwife/Nurse with specialist knowledge of Long Term Care, MCA, and DoLS.
  • Experience of planning and delivering training, with knowledge of Governance processes.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to work autonomously and as part of a team.
