Practice Development Nurse

Job Summary
The Swansea Bay University Health Board is seeking a skilled Practice Development Nurse to support the development and delivery of training, education, and professional development across the Health Board. This role will focus on assisting Nurses and other multi-disciplinary colleagues to meet the requirements under the Mental Capacity Act and Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards.
Main Duties of the Job
The post holder will support the Head of Nursing PCTSG, the MCA and Dols Lead Nurse, and contribute to ongoing mandatory and statutory training and continuing professional development needs. Key responsibilities include:
- Supporting the DoLS lead in the education and training of all staff working with service users who may be deemed to lack capacity
- Developing and implementing systems to support Health Board compliance with the Mental Capacity Act 2005 and the Mental Capacity (Amendment) Act 2019
- Delivering training to staff across all Health Board areas to ensure they feel confident and competent to work within the required systems for MCA / DoLS
- Undertaking assessments and reviews relating to capacity and best interest decisions across primary and secondary care settings within set timescales

Requirements
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- A degree in a relevant field
- Registration as a Midwife or Nurse
- Specialist knowledge of Long Term Care, MCA, and DoLS
- Experience of planning and delivering training
- Knowledge of Governance processes
- Evidence of recent ongoing professional development
Desirable Qualifications and Experience
We welcome applications from candidates with experience of teaching at undergraduate level, holding a Practice Assessor/Teaching and Assessing course, or teaching in a clinical environment.
