About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Practice Development Nurse to join our team at Swansea Bay University Health Board. As a key member of our Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards team, you will play a vital role in supporting the development and delivery of training, education, and professional development across the Health Board.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the Head of Nursing PCTSG, the MCA and Dols Lead Nurse, and other multi-disciplinary colleagues to meet the requirements under the Mental Capacity Act and Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards.
  • Develop and deliver training to staff across all Health Board areas to ensure they feel confident and are competent to work within the required systems for MCA/DoLS.
  • Undertake assessments and reviews relating to capacity and best interest decisions across primary and secondary care settings within set timescales and make recommendations to the Supervisory Body.
  • Work in partnership with key stakeholders to develop strategies to ensure a highly motivated and competent workforce by assessing training requirements and supporting and delivering the agreed training.
Requirements
  • Degree in a relevant field.
  • Registered Midwife/Nurse.
  • Specialist knowledge of Long Term Care, MCA, and DoLS.
  • Experience of planning and delivering training.
  • Knowledge of Governance processes.
  • Evidence of recent ongoing professional development.
Desirable Qualifications and Experience
  • Experience of teaching at undergraduate level.
  • Practice assessor/Teaching and Assessing course.
  • Experience of teaching in a clinical environment.
