Role Overview

The Oxford Centre for Islamic Studies is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Maintenance and Estates Manager to lead our maintenance team in ensuring the Centre's facilities are safe, efficient, and well-maintained. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated and organized individual to join our team and contribute to the Centre's mission.

About the Role

This is a full-time position responsible for overseeing all aspects of maintenance and estates management at the Centre. The successful candidate will have excellent communication skills, be able to work effectively with colleagues, and possess a high level of technical knowledge in maintenance and repair techniques.

The salary for this role is approximately £39,500 per annum, which includes 35 days' leave per annum and other benefits.

Key Responsibilities
  • To oversee the maintenance and repair of all Centre buildings and facilities, including electrical, mechanical, and plumbing systems.
  • To manage the Centre's inventory and ensure that all equipment and supplies are properly maintained and replaced as needed.
  • To supervise and train maintenance staff, providing guidance and support to ensure that they are able to perform their duties effectively.
  • To develop and implement preventative maintenance plans to minimize downtime and reduce the risk of equipment failure.
  • To manage budgets and resources to ensure that maintenance activities are carried out efficiently and cost-effectively.
Requirements

We are looking for a qualified and experienced Maintenance and Estates Manager who has a strong background in maintenance and repair techniques. The ideal candidate will have:

  • A recognized qualification in maintenance or a related field.
  • Proven experience in supervising and training maintenance staff.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Familiarity with health and safety regulations and protocols.
