Medical Receptionist Trainee

About the Role
Much Wenlock and Cressage Medical Practice are seeking a highly organized and enthusiastic individual to join our Reception team as a Trainee Medical Receptionist. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to build a long-term career in healthcare, gain experience, and achieve a recognized qualification.
As a Trainee Medical Receptionist, you will work closely with our experienced and knowledgeable Reception team, providing excellent patient care and contributing to the smooth running of the Practice. You will be responsible for greeting patients and visitors, dealing with enquiries, booking appointments, registering new patients, and processing repeat prescriptions.
Key Responsibilities
- Deal with patient and health professional enquiries, as they arise, by phone, electronic communication, or in person.
- Booking, amending, and cancelling patient appointments, ensuring the computerized appointment system is up-to-date.
- Registering of new patients, ensuring relevant checks are made.
- Process requests for repeat prescriptions by phone, post, or online, within a timely manner.
- Check and enter information of drug deliveries on Emis Web.
- Access Shropdoc overnight reports and save to patient records.
- Upload documents received via electronic download via Docman.
- Deal with and respond to incoming Practice emails/electronic consultations within the relevant time scale.
- Open, stamp, and distribute post.
- Ensure consultation rooms are prepared in readiness for the start of each day and checked at the end of the day leaving them tidy and secure.

Person Specification
- GCSEs grade 4 or above in Maths and English.
- Good computer/typing skills.
- IT and keyboard skills.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Word and Microsoft Packages.
- Aptitude to learn quickly under supervised direction.
- Ability to travel independently between two sites.
