Forensic Support Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Forensic Support Officer to join our team at the Scottish Police Authority. As a key member of our Forensic Services team, you will play a critical role in providing support to help deliver an effective and efficient forensic service for the criminal justice system.
Key Responsibilities- Provide technical support to forensic scientists and other stakeholders to ensure the smooth operation of forensic services.
- Assist in the development and implementation of forensic strategies and procedures to improve the quality and efficiency of forensic services.
- Collaborate with other teams to ensure the effective management of forensic evidence and the provision of expert witness testimony.
- Contribute to the development and delivery of training programs for forensic staff and other stakeholders.
- Stay up-to-date with the latest developments in forensic science and technology and apply this knowledge to improve forensic services.
- Education to Higher level or equivalent, with a proven experience within a laboratory environment.
- Relevant working experience in order to support familiarisation and on-the-job training for the role.
- Up-to-date working knowledge of all relevant legislation and guidelines, including Health and Safety, COSHH, and contamination guidelines.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment and communicate complex information to stakeholders.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to think critically and make sound judgments.
