Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Forensic Support Officer to join our team at the Scottish Police Authority. As a key member of our Forensic Services department, you will play a critical role in supporting the delivery of an effective and efficient forensic service for the criminal justice system.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide technical support to forensic scientists and other stakeholders to ensure the smooth operation of forensic services.
  • Conduct thorough and accurate analysis of evidence to support the investigation and prosecution of crimes.
  • Develop and maintain expertise in forensic techniques and technologies to stay up-to-date with the latest developments in the field.
  • Collaborate with other teams and stakeholders to ensure effective communication and coordination of forensic services.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of policies and procedures to ensure the highest standards of forensic practice.
Requirements
  • Education to Higher level or equivalent, with a proven track record of experience in a laboratory environment.
  • Relevant working experience in a forensic or related field, with a strong understanding of forensic techniques and technologies.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with colleagues and stakeholders at all levels.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex data and evidence.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a flexible approach to work and a willingness to travel to other sites as required.
