Job Title: Specialist Chemotherapy Nurse

CK Group is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Specialist Chemotherapy Nurse to join our team. As a Specialist Chemotherapy Nurse, you will play a critical role in delivering high-quality patient care and support in the comfort of patients' homes.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct thorough clinical assessments of patients' needs and develop personalized care plans.
  • Provide training and education to patients and their caregivers on safe medication administration, including oral tablets and IV oncology treatments.
  • Offer ongoing support and guidance to patients through a combination of telephone, clinic-based, and home visits, as per product and client protocols.
  • Assess patients' home environments to ensure they are safe and suitable for home IV oncology treatment.
  • Administer IV oncology medications and perform line care, including changing dressings and providing advice on caring for lines.
  • Check blood results and make decisions on whether critical levels are within safe parameters to continue with treatment, liaising with referring consultants as needed.
  • Complete blood transfusions with patients or arrange for a suitably qualified nurse to visit patients to deliver transfusions.
Requirements:
  • RGN part 1 NMC Register.
  • Chemotherapy delivery qualification.
  • Experience in administering oncology medication, either in hospital or community environment.
  • Experience of undertaking clinical assessments and administering sub-cutaneous injections.
  • Experience in the care of IV devices and administration of IV therapies.
  • Clinical skills required include clinical assessment, administering I.V. injections, administering chemotherapy, cannulation, and phlebotomy skills.
  • Strong understanding of therapies relevant to service offering, including NHS knowledge relating to the management of patients with treated conditions.
