Scientific Data Engineer for Ocean Forecasting
3 weeks ago
As a Foundation Scientific Software Engineer at the Met Office, you'll be responsible for developing and supporting tools to assess and monitor the quality and accuracy of our ocean forecasts. You'll work closely with the Ocean Forecast Verification team to develop novel verification and observation processing tools, and enhance how we visualise our models.
Our team is part of the Ocean Forecasting R&D group, which develops operational forecast systems used to monitor and predict physical ocean dynamics, waves, and ecosystems. These systems combine numerical models with in-situ and remotely-sensed observations of the ocean providing a digital representation of the global ocean and shelf seas surrounding the UK.
You'll be part of a collaborative and inclusive environment where everyone is encouraged to share ideas and contribute to decision-making. We value diversity and promote equal opportunities, so we welcome applications from candidates with all protected characteristics.
