Scientific Software Developer for Ocean Forecasting

We're seeking an exceptional Scientific Software Developer to join our Ocean Forecasting team at the Met Office. As a key member of our team, you'll play a vital role in developing and supporting tools to assess and monitor the quality and accuracy of our ocean forecasts.
The successful candidate will work within our Ocean Forecast Verification team, combining numerical models with in-situ and remotely-sensed observations to provide a digital representation of the global ocean and shelf seas surrounding the UK. Your primary focus will be on:
- Development and technical support of our ocean post-processing systems, which deliver forecasts to users including the Royal Navy and the RNLI
- Enhancing how we visualise our models to assist monitoring and assessment of forecast performance
A competitive annual salary of up to £46,974 is available, including a Recruitment Retention Allowance (RRA) of £2,200 per annum, as well as an outstanding Civil Service pension and 27.5 days of annual leave rising to 32.5 days after 5 years.
