Ocean Forecasting Software Specialist

**About the Opportunity**
We are excited to announce a new opportunity for an Ocean Forecasting Software Specialist to join our team at the Met Office. As a key member of our Ocean Forecasting team, you will be responsible for developing and maintaining software systems that support our ocean forecasting activities.
The successful candidate will have a strong background in software development and a passion for working with complex data sets. You will work closely with our scientific team to understand their requirements and develop solutions that meet their needs.
We offer a competitive salary of £45,000 - £65,000 per annum, depending on experience, and a comprehensive benefits package.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain software systems using programming languages such as Java, C#, and Python
- Collaborate with scientists to understand their requirements and develop solutions that meet their needs
- Work closely with our software engineering team to ensure seamless integration with existing systems
- Perform thorough testing and validation of software systems to ensure accuracy and reliability
Requirements:
- BSc or MSc in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field
- Experience in developing and deploying software systems
- Strong programming skills in languages such as Java, C#, and Python
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills
