About the Role:
We're looking for a skilled Scientific Software Engineer - Ocean Forecasting to join our team. As part of our Ocean Forecast Verification team, you'll play a crucial role in developing and supporting tools to evaluate the quality and accuracy of our ocean forecasts. You'll work closely with our experts to combine numerical models with in-situ and remotely sensed observations, providing a comprehensive digital representation of the global ocean and shelf seas surrounding the UK.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design, develop, and maintain ocean post-processing systems to deliver accurate forecasts to users.
  • Collaborate with the team to enhance the visualization of our models, facilitating better monitoring and assessment of forecast performance.

What You'll Need:
  • Proven experience in scientific programming languages/environments, such as Python, Linux, or Bash.
  • A strong background in Quality Assurance processes and software coding standards.
  • Excellent communication skills to convey complex technical information effectively.
