About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and skilled Regional Property Underwriting Director to join our team at Howden Group Holdings. As a key member of our executive team, you will play a critical role in shaping our underwriting strategy and driving growth in the regional property market.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement underwriting strategies to achieve business objectives and drive growth in the regional property market.
  • Lead a team of underwriters to ensure accurate and timely risk assessment and pricing of regional property business.
  • Collaborate with other business units to ensure alignment and effective communication of underwriting strategies and risk appetite.
  • Monitor and report on portfolio performance, identifying areas for improvement and implementing corrective actions as needed.
  • Stay up-to-date with emerging risks and trends in the regional property market, making recommendations for adjustments to underwriting strategies and risk appetite.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with capacity providers, brokers, and other stakeholders to ensure effective communication and collaboration.
  • Provide input into annual business planning activities, ensuring alignment with company objectives and strategies.

Requirements

  • Strong experience in portfolio management, data analytics, and performance metrics.
  • Proven track record of driving business growth through technical underwriting and commercial focus.
  • Excellent understanding of the commercial insurance mid-market and the UK regulatory environment.
  • Strong financial acumen and ability to analyze complex data sets.
  • Effective communication and leadership skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire a team.
