About the Role

We are seeking a highly experienced and skilled Head of Regional Property Underwriting to join our team at Howden Group Holdings. As a key member of our executive team, you will be responsible for leading the underwriting strategy and appetite for the Regional Property line of business.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement underwriting strategies to drive business growth and profitability.
  • Lead a team of underwriters to ensure accurate and timely underwriting decisions.
  • Collaborate with capacity providers to establish and maintain strong relationships.
  • Monitor portfolio performance and adjust strategy to meet business plans.
  • Ensure adherence to underwriting governance frameworks and meet audit requirements.
  • Stay up-to-date with emerging risks and take necessary action to mitigate them.

Requirements

  • Significant experience in property underwriting, including senior authority level roles.
  • Strong understanding of the commercial insurance mid-market and the UK regulatory environment.
  • ACII or FCII qualified (or equivalent).
  • Strong financial acumen and ability to analyze data to inform underwriting decisions.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills.
