Job Role Overview
The residential youth care specialist will provide nurturing therapeutic care to children who have experienced trauma, supporting and caring for them as a parent would.
The ideal candidate will have a flexible and adaptable attitude and be able to manage challenges with a calm and patient demeanour.
They will also need to have effective written and verbal communication skills, as well as the ability to understand and manage challenging behaviour, including aggression and violence, using a range of de-escalation techniques.
As a residential youth care specialist, you will work as part of a multi-disciplinary team around the child, supporting them to develop the skills and resilience to return to their families, or onto longer-term care.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide nurturing therapeutic care to children who have experienced trauma
- Support and care for children as a parent would
- Manage challenges with a calm and patient demeanour
- Use effective written and verbal communication skills
- Understand and manage challenging behaviour, including aggression and violence, using a range of de-escalation techniques
Requirements
- Level 3 Diploma or equivalent
- Ability to work 37 hours over a mixture of early and late shifts
- Every other weekend off
- Must be at least 21 years old
