Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Residential Care Worker to join our team at Essex County Council. As a Residential Care Worker, you will play a vital role in providing nurturing therapeutic care to children who have experienced trauma.

About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity to work with children and young people to make a positive impact in their lives. You will be part of a multi-disciplinary team around the child, supporting them to develop the skills and resilience to return to their families or onto longer-term care.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide nurturing therapeutic care to children who have experienced trauma
  • Support and care for children as a parent would
  • Manage challenging behaviour, including aggression and violence, using de-escalation techniques
  • Communicate effectively with children, colleagues, and other stakeholders

Requirements

  • Level 3 Diploma in a relevant field (or willingness to complete within 2 years)
  • Ability to work a minimum of 18.5 hours per week over a mixture of early and late shifts
  • Flexibility and adaptability in a fast-paced environment
