Job Summary

Essex County Council is seeking an Advanced Skills Worker to join our team at New Farm Road, a newly refurbished short-term home for five 12-16 year olds. As an ASW, you will provide nurturing therapeutic care to children who have experienced trauma, supporting and caring for them as a parent would.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide individualized support to children, promoting their emotional and psychological well-being.
  • Work collaboratively with a multi-disciplinary team to develop and implement care plans.
  • Support children in achieving their full potential, through education, skills development, and life skills training.
  • Manage challenging behavior, using de-escalation techniques and positive reinforcement strategies.
  • Line manage a team of staff, providing guidance and supervision to ensure high-quality care.

Requirements

  • Previous experience in a children's home or transferable line management experience.
  • Ability to understand and manage challenging behavior.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Level 3 Diploma in Child Care or equivalent.
