About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Occupational Therapist/Physiotherapist to lead our Colchester Inpatients Surgical and Oncology Therapy Team.

As a Band 7 Occupational Therapist/Physiotherapist, you will have the opportunity to develop your supervisory and management skills, supporting and supervising junior therapists, students, and/or therapy support workers.

You will be responsible for playing a specialist role in the advanced assessment, treatment, and clinical management of patients on surgical wards, with a focus on quality improvement and education.

Main Responsibilities

  • Lead the OT/PT team in the clinical areas, developing and supporting staff to deliver high-quality care.
  • Manage a team of staff, including OTs, PTs, and therapy assistants, providing professional leadership and supervision.
  • Promote high standards of professional practice and leadership in the delivery of quality care within the inpatient setting.
  • Maintain awareness of relevant research trends and national recommendations regarding therapy interventions.

Requirements

  • Degree/Diploma in Physiotherapy or Occupational Therapy.
  • Commitment to advanced clinical and professional development.
  • Recognised postgraduate qualification.
  • Proven Band 6 experience in relevant specialties, including surgical specialisms.
  • Previous experience of student supervision and clinical education.
  • Robust understanding of Clinical Governance, including quality issues, audit, and risk management.

Working Arrangements

You will be required to participate in the 7-day working rota within the acute Colchester therapy teams and participate in the on-call respiratory rota if a Physiotherapist.
