Regional Support Official Opportunity

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Regional Support Official to join our North West team in Manchester. As a key member of our Bargaining, Organising, Representation & Operations department, you will play a vital role in ensuring the consistent implementation of our bargaining, campaigning, and organising objectives.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist in securing and maintaining recognition of UCU in the designated area
  • Conduct and support negotiations with employing institutions in accordance with nationally and locally agreed bargaining objectives
  • Contribute to the organisation and effective delivery of regional training in accordance with the national training programme
  • Engage in and organise regional and local campaigning activities in accordance with national/regional campaigning objectives
  • Deputise for the Regional Official as necessary
Requirements:
  • GCSE level education (including maths and English) or equivalent
  • Experience of a similar working environment and/or understanding of working for a trade union or other not-for-profit organisation
  • Good knowledge of the post-compulsory education sector; a working knowledge and understanding of employment law, as well as trade union organising experience
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, able to advocate on behalf of members and represent individuals in disciplinary and grievance cases
  • Ability to travel across the region
