About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Palliative Care Consultant to join our team at Trinity Hospice. As a key member of our clinical leadership team, you will play a vital role in shaping the future of palliative care services on the Fylde Coast.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide senior clinical leadership to our nursing and clinical staff, ensuring the delivery of high-quality patient care.
  • Advise and co-lead on the future planning of strategic directions and service developments in relation to palliative care.
  • Participate in clinical supervision as a supervisor and supervisee, supporting the development of our clinical teams.
  • Liaise with health and social care professionals, both internal and external to the Hospice, to provide specialist palliative care advice.
  • Contribute to the delivery of education to all staff groups, ensuring that our teams have the skills and knowledge needed to provide excellent patient care.
  • Act as Clinical Supervisor to our Clinical Advanced Clinical Practitioners, ensuring they meet the competency framework and are supported in their roles.
  • Be available to clinically support Doctors in training, including GP trainees, to ensure that they have the skills and knowledge needed to provide high-quality patient care.
  • Participate in weekly Specialist Palliative Care Multi-disciplinary team meetings, ensuring that our teams are working together effectively to deliver high-quality patient care.
  • Attend relevant meetings internal and external to the Hospice, participating in the development of policies, procedures, and standards pertaining to clinical activity.
  • Liaise with partners, such as Blackpool Teaching Hospitals, Lancaster University, and Hospices UK, to facilitate effective and appropriate research, actively involving yourself in the University Hospice model.
  • Work collaboratively with our Palliative Medicine Medical Consultants across the Fylde Coast to ensure delivery, continuity, and development of specialist palliative care.
  • On appointment, as a minimum, should be working towards joining the Palliative Care 2nd on-call rota for the Fylde Coast.
Person Specification
  • Experience of managing complex patients with palliative care needs.
  • Significant evidence of delivering teaching programmes to staff groups.
  • Evidence of working at a Senior level within Palliative Care.
  • Experience of leading service design development and redesign.
  • Evidence of involvement in local & national networks.
  • Significant experience of leading, training, and developing staff.
