Development Officer

About the Role

The Highways Development Control team is responsible for ensuring that highway-related interests are considered in residential and commercial developments. This team works closely with external developers, planning authorities, and specialist colleagues to ensure that all aspects of highway development are properly managed from conception to completion.

This role plays a key part in the team, acting as the main point of contact on a day-to-day basis.

About You
  • You will have a strong understanding of highway-related technical and policy standards and be able to apply them in real-world environments.
  • You will have knowledge of planning and highway-related processes.
  • You will need to be flexible in your approach to duties.
  • You will need to be able to balance conflicting priorities and workloads.
  • You will have a personable attitude but also be firm and fair in the application of policies and standards.
Responsibilities
  • Receiving and assessing planning consultations from local planning authorities.
  • Providing feedback to developers, agents, and the LPA to support decisions on planning consents.
  • Coordinating with specialist colleagues to ensure all relevant aspects are considered.
  • Supporting the ongoing implementation of highway works after planning consent.
Salary

£45,000 per annum.
