Advanced Practice Nurse

Ixworth Surgery is a General Medical Services (GMS) practice located in a rural community. As a key member of our primary healthcare team, you will be responsible for providing high-quality nursing care to patients while supporting doctors and other healthcare professionals.
Job SummaryWe are seeking an experienced Registered General Nurse to fill the role of Practice Nurse. This position involves delivering and upholding a high standard of nursing care for patients, as well as supporting doctors and other members of the primary healthcare team. The duties will include all tasks normally undertaken by an experienced RGN and additional roles agreed between the nurse and doctors as appropriate, having regard to current training.
Responsibilities- Assist in and perform routine tasks related to patient care as directed by senior nursing staff and GPs
- Cytology, removal of sutures/wound care, ECGs, asthma/peak flow readings/spirometry, venepuncture, ear syringing, routine injections/childhood immunisations/travel vaccinations, chaperoning and assisting patients where appropriate who are being examined by another clinician, assisting GPs with minor surgery and coil fittings, requesting pathology tests
- Interest in minor illness diagnosis and treatment, following agreed clinical protocols with referral to senior nurses or GPs as appropriate, chronic disease management, influenza and other routine vaccination clinics, family planning, well man/women clinics
- Maintaining and cleaning equipment used by the nurses and GPs, maintaining nurses rooms, stocking and rotating items as required, maintaining general tidiness and cleanliness of nurses and treatment rooms, ordering health promotion literature, ordering vaccinations to maintain stock levels, participation in administrative systems in the Practice
- At all times, there will be a need to maintain accurate records, advising senior nurses of potential problems or errors within the range of assigned tasks, attending and participating in any Practice meetings when required
- Willingness to learn and acquire new skills, insight and understanding of current issues in nursing and the NHS, evidence of appropriate knowledge base, interest and basic knowledge in long-term conditions
- Uses initiative, gets on well with people at all levels, ability to work core hours, flexibility to cover holiday/sickness, able to do home visits as required, membership of a professional body, registered nurse
Estimated salary: £30,000 - £40,000 per annum
