Job Overview

Barts Health NHS Trust is committed to providing high-quality patient care and is seeking a skilled Neonatal Community Outreach Sister to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing a seamless, high-quality service from referral through to discharge, enabling timely discharge for babies less than 36 weeks gestation.

Main Responsibilities
  • Provide help and support to families during their transition to home by preparing them with training and teaching, including Basic Life Support (BLS), Nasogastric Tube (NGT) feeds, and encouraging self-confidence.
  • Be a point of reference for staff and parents, offering specialist community-based advice.
  • Liaise with multidisciplinary colleagues as needed, including Speech and Language Therapists (SLT) and Dieticians.
  • Participate in ward rounds and weekly Multidisciplinary Team (MDT) meetings.
  • Work towards autonomous practice, in conjunction with other team members and the leading consultant.
  • Monitor the quality and standard of care provided by the outreach team by completing monthly audits.
