Job Summary

The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting the Environmental Health and Trading Standards Service in managing the Public Mortuary, working closely with the Coroner's Service to deliver a joined-up response to public health funerals.

Key Responsibilities

• Carry out casework, including post-mortems and forensic cases, and assist the pathologist in administrative arrangements.

• Undertake high-profile or complicated casework as necessary, and assist the pathologist in post-mortems and forensic cases.

• Maintain a comprehensive system of monitoring and reporting of performance against targets.

• Work out of hours as required.

• Assist in reconstructing and cleaning the body after a post-mortem, and manage the Parish Funerals process.

Requirements

• Experience of continuing professional development within the Mortuary Service.

• Excellent communication and administrative skills, with good computer skills.

• Ability to work a 35-hour week and participate in the out-of-hours rota.

• Diploma in Anatomical Pathology Technology (or equivalent).
