Job Overview

Main Duties of the Job

The successful candidate will be responsible for leading the mortuary services team and ensuring that all aspects of mortuary provision are delivered to the highest standard. This will include assisting in post-mortem provision for adults, perinatal/paediatric cases, and caring for the deceased. The candidate will also be responsible for training and developing the skills of junior staff members.

Person Specification

The ideal candidate will have a Level 4 Diploma or equivalent in Anatomical Pathology Technology and will have significant experience in an HTA-accredited mortuary. They will also have a strong understanding of mortuary processes and a commitment to delivering high-quality patient care. The candidate will be able to work independently and as part of a team, and will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the mortuary services team and ensure that all aspects of mortuary provision are delivered to the highest standard.
  • Assist in post-mortem provision for adults, perinatal/paediatric cases, and caring for the deceased.
  • Train and develop the skills of junior staff members.
  • Work closely with other teams to ensure that mortuary services are integrated with other aspects of patient care.

Requirements

  • Level 4 Diploma or equivalent in Anatomical Pathology Technology.
  • Significant experience in an HTA-accredited mortuary.
  • Strong understanding of mortuary processes.
  • Commitment to delivering high-quality patient care.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
