Job Overview

Barts Health NHS Trust is seeking a highly skilled Senior Anatomical Pathology Technologist to join our team. This role will be based at The Royal London Hospital in Whitechapel, with occasional visits to other sites.

Main Duties

The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting in all aspects of Mortuary Services, including post mortem provision for adults, perinatal/paediatric cases, and care of the deceased. They will also be the dedicated training lead for trainee APTs, ensuring they reach the required standard to pass the level 3 diploma.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in all aspects of Mortuary Services, including post mortem provision and care of the deceased.
  • Provide training and support to trainee APTs, ensuring they reach the required standard to pass the level 3 diploma.
  • Work collaboratively with the Mortuary team to ensure efficient and effective service delivery.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of quality assurance and control measures.

Person Specification

The ideal candidate will have a Level 4 Diploma or equivalent in Anatomical Pathology Technology, with demonstrable knowledge of Mortuary processes and a commitment to Continued Professional Development. They will also have substantive experience in an HTA accredited Mortuary and be able to perform all relevant manual and automated tasks in the department.
