Job Overview

The role of a Local Authority Statutory Social Worker is to effectively discharge duties related to children in need, protection, care proceedings, and adoptive placements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct comprehensive child and family assessments in partnership with the child, parents or carers, and other agencies, ensuring the child's voice is central to the assessment.
  • Develop and implement outcome-focused SMART plans following assessment to meet the needs of the child, safeguard them, and promote permanence.
  • Provide support, guidance, advice, and services to families to address concerns identified in the assessment and reassess the child's needs as appropriate.
  • Collaborate within a multi-agency team to deliver the appropriate plan for children on your caseload.
  • Promote the welfare of children and young people in accordance with the Children Act 1989 criteria and relevant legislation.
  • E nsure the views of children and young people are represented throughout the process.
Requirements and Benefits

To be successful in this role, you must abide by the Council's diversity policy, health and safety policies, and procedures. You will also be required to follow objectives and targets set by the Section and Department, and maintain relevant records.

This challenging yet rewarding position comes with an estimated salary of £40,000 - £55,000 per annum.
