Job Overview

The Placement Hub Manager is responsible for ensuring the effective delivery of high-quality undergraduate, postgraduate, and pre-reg placements across Lancashire Teaching Hospitals Trust (LTH), linked District General Hospitals, and Primary Care for all learners, trainees, and students. This role requires operational responsibilities for the delivery of placements, as well as managerial leadership for the curriculum team, PGME team, and placement lead.

Main Duties
  • Manage and coordinate clinical placement areas utilized by all learners, trainees, and students accessing LTH as part of their studies.
  • Represent LTH at operational meetings, including Quality Surveillance meetings, Staff and Student Liaison Committee Meeting, Pre-reg meetings, Curriculum meetings, and other relevant meetings.
  • Utilize high-level communication skills to liaise with all Trust Departments and Linked Trusts relevant to educational placements.
  • Manage the upkeep, visibility, and currency of student, trainee, and learner induction packages.
  • Evaluate student, trainee, and learner evaluations.
  • Support the Head of Student Trainee and Placement Support, Hospital Dean, and Associate Deans in planning for clinical educational appointments.
  • Manage the Placement Hub team staffing.
  • Ensure all data complies with data protection act and local policies.
  • Undergo annual appraisal and maintain a PDP, participating in the annual review process.
Person Specification

Qualifications and Education

  • Master's degree level or equivalent.
  • Professional qualification in Medical Education or Management.
  • Evidence of continued professional development.

Knowledge and Experience

  • Experience of managing undergraduate medical education within a healthcare setting.
  • Experience of developing placements for healthcare professional students.
  • Experienced motivational leader, familiar with managing a changing environment, promoting continuous improvement.
  • Understanding of performance management and capacity planning.
  • Understanding of NHS and infrastructure of partner organizations, including working knowledge of relevant NHS policies.
  • Specialist knowledge of Medical Education.
  • Experience of a pastoral role.
  • Good IT skills and experience of MS office applications.
  • Proven track record in delivering targets and meeting deadlines.
  • Established experience of financial management, including business planning.
  • Ability to deliver robust business plans and act as advisor.
  • Experience of working in an educational or NHS setting and of working with different professional groups.
  • Experience of interpreting and implementing external policies and guidance.
