About The Wildlife Trusts

The Wildlife Trusts is a grassroots movement of people from a wide range of backgrounds and all walks of life, who share a set of common beliefs. We are a federation of 46 locally independent Wildlife Trusts and the Royal Society of Wildlife Trusts (RSWT), working in every part of the UK and on Alderney and the Isle of Man.

We have restored and care for some of the most special places for wildlife in the UK, managing over 2,300 nature reserves, operating 123 visitor and education centres, and owning 29 working farms. We undertake research, stand up for wildlife and wild places under threat, and help people access nature.

About the Role

We are looking for a passionate marine conservationist to join our team and help us deliver significant benefits for wildlife and nature across Wales. As a Marine Conservation Policy Specialist, you will be responsible for leading the effective delivery of marine conservation policy in Wales, working closely with our team to raise the profile of the sea and all that lives within it.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Develop and implement marine conservation policy in Wales, working closely with our team and stakeholders.
  2. Advocate for marine wildlife and conservation, using your knowledge and experience to influence policy and decision-making.
  3. Work with our team to develop and deliver projects and initiatives that promote marine conservation and raise awareness of the importance of marine wildlife.
  4. Collaborate with other organizations and stakeholders to achieve our marine conservation goals.

About You

We are looking for someone who is passionate about marine conservation, has a strong understanding of issues facing marine wildlife, and has experience of advocacy work and Welsh environmental legislation. You will be organized, motivated, and able to take the initiative, with excellent communication and presentation skills.

What We Offer

We offer a supportive and inclusive work environment, with opportunities for professional development and growth. We are committed to creating a movement that recognizes and truly values individual differences and identities, and we particularly encourage applications from underrepresented people within our sector.
