Job Summary

We are a dynamic and forward-thinking healthcare organization seeking an experienced Medical Secretary to join our team at Elm House Surgery.

The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication and organizational skills, with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities will include providing administrative support to our medical team, managing patient records, and ensuring the smooth operation of our secretarial services.

Main Duties

  • Provide efficient and comprehensive secretarial support to our medical team.
  • Manage patient records and ensure accurate and timely updates.
  • Respond to patient inquiries and provide exceptional customer service.
  • Use digital dictation systems to type referrals, clinical letters, and reports as required.
  • Liaise with hospitals and other outside agencies regarding appointments, missing hospital correspondence, and test results.
  • Deal with patient enquiries professionally and sympathetically.
  • Check and respond to secretarial emails, sending correspondence via mail and email according to protocol.

Person Specification

Essential

  • GCSE grade A to C in English and Maths or equivalent.
  • Medical secretarial experience.
  • Experience of working in a customer care environment.

Desirable

  • Medical secretarial experience within primary care.
  • Knowledge of Emis Web, Docman, and Outlook.
