Divisional Medical Director

East and North Hertfordshire NHS Trust is seeking a highly skilled and experienced medical professional to fill the role of Divisional Medical Director for our Unplanned Care Division. As a senior medical leader, you will be responsible for overseeing and delivering high-quality, patient-centered medical services.
The successful candidate will work closely with our multidisciplinary teams to shape and influence system-wide strategy for care of patients with long-term conditions. You will be jointly responsible and accountable for the delivery of high-quality services, within budget, for an agreed level of activity at an expected level of service, efficiency, and clinical quality.
Main Responsibilities- Maintenance of high-quality patient-centered care
- Shared responsibility for the day-to-day management of the service and participation in strategic planning
- Teaching and training within the multidisciplinary service
- Active involvement in multidisciplinary team meetings and directorate clinical governance activity
- Active participation in continuing medical education
The Divisional Medical Director will be responsible for leading and managing a team of clinical directors, who in turn will manage consultants in their specialties. The role is an 18-month tenure, rotating between Divisional Leadership team members.
Requirements- Entry on GMC Specialist Register or, be within 6 months of receipt of Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) at time of interview or, provide GMC confirmed eligibility for entry on the Specialist Register
- Primary Medical Degree
- Hold a substantive consultant contract
- Qualification in medical leadership, or to be in process of achieving this
The ideal candidate will have experience of leadership as a clinical director, assistant/deputy clinical director or directorate/care group clinical lead. They will also have demonstrable experience of effective budgetary management and control, as well as experience of supervising undergraduates, doctors in training and other colleagues.
