About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Underwriter to join our Construction Underwriting team at QBE Management Services (UK) Limited. As an Underwriter, you will play a critical role in delivering our annual business plan by making informed decisions and adhering to underwriting standards and good practice.

Key Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the development and implementation of underwriting strategies to minimize risk and maximize efficiency.
  • Ensure accurate and timely recording and measurement of insurance risks.
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders, including customers, brokers, business partners, and colleagues.
  • Develop and maintain expertise and technical knowledge through ongoing learning and development activities.
  • Perform underwriting activities in accordance with all legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Stay up-to-date with market dynamics and market cycles to support business performance.
  • Motivate and coach team members to ensure relevant knowledge and expertise is shared for their continuing personal and professional development.

Requirements

  • Thorough understanding of class-specific underwriting and reinsurance knowledge.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively within a team environment.
  • Capability to analyze and interpret data.
  • Intermediate level understanding of relevant software, including Excel and other departmental software packages.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Knowledge of the construction industry.
