Job Title: Construction Liability Underwriter

Location: North West

Full/Part Time: Full Time

Salary: £65,000 per annum + OTE

About the Role:

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Construction Liability Underwriter to join our dynamic and well-respected insurer within the market. As a key member of our Global Construction Underwriting team, you will be responsible for underwriting insurance risks in alignment with our business plan and personal authority.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Build and Enhance Relationships: Develop and maintain strong relationships with brokers, industry associations, business partners, reinsurers, and colleagues to amplify influence and attain business goals.
  • Advance Expertise: Continuously advance your expertise and technical acumen through suitable development programs.
  • Underwriting: Underwrite insurance risks in alignment with our business plan and personal authority, aiming to meet business objectives, which includes negotiating rates, terms, and conditions for both existing and new business.
  • Compliance: Ensure compliance with contract certainty requirements for the production and issuance of documentation.
  • Claims Management: Stay abreast of all advised Construction claims, offering input on settlements to inform future Underwriting strategies.
  • Risk Engineering: Assist in coordinating Risk Engineering activities for the existing portfolio, reviewing Risk Survey reports and seeking additional information when necessary.
  • Portfolio Analysis: Contribute to and influence the review and analysis of the portfolio, identifying progress toward business objectives.
  • Underwriting Standards: Adhere to underwriting standards, instructions, and best practices to mitigate risk.

Requirements:

  • Industry Experience: Strong experience within the construction sector of the insurance industry, ideally with a sway more towards the industrial lines.
  • Communication Skills: Effective and compelling communication skills, coupled with the capacity to challenge and persuade others.
  • Data Analysis: Proficiency in analysing and utilising data to make informed decisions.
  • Attention to Detail: Meticulous attention to detail.
  • Market Knowledge: Familiarity with pertinent market conditions pertaining to specific classes/portfolios.
  • Regulatory Knowledge: Thorough understanding of legal and regulatory frameworks.
  • Underwriting Principles: Comprehension of class-specific underwriting principles and reinsurance practices.
