Key Responsibilities

As an NHS Specialist Nurse, you will provide expertise and leadership in the field of alcohol issues, working autonomously within the guidelines, policies, and procedures of the service. You will have an in-depth knowledge of treatment available and communicate complex and sensitive information with clients, carers, local teams, and others.

Key Responsibilities Clinical
  1. Provide training in alcohol issues and Information and Brief Advice (IBA) within A&E and other appropriate departments to enable identification and response to alcohol issues at all levels.
  2. Give advice on the care and detoxification of patients admitted where alcohol dependence is co-morbidity.
  3. Contribute to the identification and support of patients admitted to hospital (especially those admitted frequently) for reasons related to alcohol misuse.
  4. Provide training in alcohol issues and IBA to appropriate clinical staff, including those in A&E and appropriate clinics.
