Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Scanning and Coding Administrator to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for scanning and downloading patient-related documents, coding relevant information into patient electronic healthcare records, and performing administrative tasks related to patient records.

Main Responsibilities

  • Sort and scan incoming patient-related mail
  • Download patient-related documents onto their medical record using read codes as agreed by the clinical team
  • Add additional information about the source of the document
  • Forward documents to the doctor or nurse who initiated the referral or who is most appropriate to receive the information
  • Identify relevant clinical information contained in patient correspondence
  • Code or free text clinical information onto the patient record
  • Deal with queries relating to coding

Requirements

  • A high level of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Experience in using Emis Web
  • GCSE Maths and English or equivalent
  • Commitment to professional development

Working Relationships

The post holder will have regular contact with the clinical team, prescriptions team, and administration team.

Confidentiality and Data Protection

The post-holder must maintain the confidentiality of information about patients, staff, and practice business in accordance with the Data Protection Act 2018 and Caldicott principles.
