We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Registered Nurse to join our team as a Nurse in Charge of the Discharge Lounge at County Durham & Darlington NHS Foundation Trust.

Job SummaryThe successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the Discharge Lounge, ensuring that patients receive high-quality care and support during their stay. This will involve supervising a team of healthcare assistants, coordinating with multidisciplinary teams, and maintaining effective communication with patients, families, and staff members.
You will be expected to work collaboratively with colleagues to achieve shared goals, prioritize tasks effectively, and manage resources efficiently. Your excellent interpersonal skills, strong organizational abilities, and commitment to providing exceptional patient care will be essential in this role.
Key Responsibilities- Oversee the daily operations of the Discharge Lounge, ensuring smooth patient flow and efficient use of resources.
- Supervise and mentor a team of healthcare assistants, providing guidance and support to ensure they meet their job requirements.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including doctors, pharmacists, and other healthcare professionals, to coordinate patient care and achieve optimal outcomes.
- Develop and implement strategies to improve patient satisfaction, quality of care, and safety within the Discharge Lounge.
- Maintain accurate records, reports, and documentation, adhering to NHS standards and guidelines.
- Registered Nurse with current NMC registration.
- Proven experience working in a busy hospital setting, preferably in a discharge lounge or similar environment.
- Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to motivate and supervise a team.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships with patients, families, and staff members.
- Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks effectively, and manage resources efficiently.
- A competitive salary of £25-30 per hour (dependent on experience).
