About the Role

This is a supply-based position, requiring flexibility and adaptability to work across various schools, often at short notice. As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will support children with a range of additional needs, ensuring they can access a meaningful, engaging, and inclusive education.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support pupils with various Special Educational Needs, including autism, ADHD, physical disabilities, and learning difficulties.
  • Assist the classroom teacher in implementing tailored learning strategies, lesson adaptations, and behavior management techniques.
  • Work one-to-one or in small groups with students to help them overcome barriers to learning and achieve their full potential.
  • Provide emotional and social support to students, helping them build confidence and positive peer relationships.
  • Assist with classroom preparation and ensure a safe, nurturing, and inclusive learning environment.
  • Collaborate with teaching staff, SENCO, and other professionals to monitor and assess students' progress, contributing to individualized education plans (IEPs) as needed.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Previous experience working with children or young people with SEN in an educational setting.
  • A patient, empathetic, and positive approach to supporting children's learning and well-being.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with students, staff, and parents.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to work across various schools in Selby, often at short notice.
  • A commitment to promoting inclusion and a passion for working with children of all backgrounds and abilities.
  • Relevant qualifications, such as Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant qualification, are advantageous but not essential.
