Early Careers Development Specialist

The Early Careers Development Specialist will play a key role in supporting the growth and development of trainees within the firm's Early Careers Recruitment and Development team. This will involve managing HR and performance matters, working closely with trainees to support their growth and development during their training contracts.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Liaising with BPP Law School on HR issues and logistics relating to future trainees
  • Overseeing the correct payment of maintenance grants, course fees, and discretionary items
  • Dealing with Employee Relations issues that may arise before the trainee starts
  • Managing Employee Relations cases, including health and wellbeing, absence, and performance management
  • Overseeing the visa process for trainees in liaison with the firm's immigration provider
  • Managing SQE assessments
  • Building strong working relationships with Group Trainee Partners and supervisors
  • Working with Trainee Recruitment, Learning & Development, Global Mobility, and Business Development to proactively manage the trainee lifecycle
  • Managing the three and six monthly seat move process
  • Moderating and reviewing trainee seat reviews
  • Managing the secondment process and reviewing secondment terms
  • Co-chairing trainee focus groups and leading on ad-hoc trainee projects

The ideal candidate will have previous Development and/or HR experience and be able to manage ER and performance matters. They will also be able to build strong working relationships with Partners, Trainees, the wider HR team, and Universities.
