Literary Rights Assistant

We are seeking a highly motivated and organized individual to assist an international rights literary agent in our London Literary department.

The ideal candidate will be an avid reader with a strong interest in international publishing and the global entertainment industry.

Responsibilities include:

  • Assisting with the preparation of submissions and tracking contracts, payments, and royalties.
  • Reading manuscripts and book proposals for all genres and producing concise reading reports.
  • Liaising with clients, publishers, and internal colleagues to maintain good relationships and open communication.
  • Updating and maintaining key department databases.
  • Assisting with the preparation of international book fairs and other business trips.
  • Providing proactive support to the agent, including diary management and answering phones.

Knowledge, skills and experience:

  • A huge passion for reading and an interest in global publishing and entertainment.
  • Great attention to detail and the ability to work to a high standard.
  • A willingness to learn quickly and a hard-working attitude compatible with a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • A clear understanding of the importance of excellent client service and absolute discretion.
