Mushens Entertainment seeks a seasoned Foreign Rights Manager to oversee literary acquisitions and international sales. Reporting to the CEO, this full-time maternity cover role will last one year.

The salary is £33,000-£38,000, dependent on experience. The role is split between 3 fixed days in our Shoreditch office and 2 days working from home.

Mushens Entertainment represents a dynamic and bestselling list of fiction and non-fiction authors, including Richard Osman, Claire Douglas, and Jennifer Saint. Our books are published in 47 languages worldwide and regularly top bestseller lists abroad.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Manage our literary assistant
  • Process and negotiate translation contracts
  • Liaise with our tax consultant to ensure prompt international payments
  • Send submissions internationally and communicate with co-agents and scouts on backlist and front-list titles
  • Update scouts and co-agents on new sales, bestseller positions, and compile our monthly rights newsletter
  • Oversee our Frankfurt Book Fair presence, including the rights guide, meeting scheduling, and attendance
  • Liaise with authors to arrange international publicity

Requirements

You will have at least four years' experience in rights, whether as a foreign rights executive/manager at an agency, in-house at a publisher, or as a literary scout.

Great communication skills, the ability to multi-task, and confidence managing others are essential.
