We are excited to offer a challenging and rewarding opportunity for a Clinical Psychologist to join our expanding psychology team. In response to national plans to transform mental health services, we have built a substantial organisational sub-structure with psychologists in lead roles, including directorate level. This provides clear career paths for psychologists who join us and we are committed to supporting your development. You will have the opportunity to participate in teaching, training, research, service development, managerial and clinical supervision, team supervision, reflective practice and direct clinical work for individuals and groups.
The Leicestershire Partnership NHS Trust Neighbourhood Teams will provide care for working age adults who are experiencing severe mental health difficulties. In accord with the national plan, we are in the process of operationalising significant changes to our services to improve the mental health of our Leicestershire population, and psychological aspects of support are especially being developed and expanded.
Key Responsibilities- Provide a highly specialist clinical psychology assessment and therapy service to a Community Mental Health Team serving the South Leicester locality.
- Offer advice and consultation on patient's psychological care to non- psychologist colleagues, and where appropriate deliver psychological interventions.
- Participate fully in multidisciplinary clinical teams, often leading them, in providing a service to their patients.
- Deploy knowledge and skills in general aspects of clinical psychology, including the assessment and treatment of patients who are legally detained as mentally ill.
- Conduct projects, working independently, with only general briefings and working directly to senior managers.

We have strong links to the University of Leicester Clinical Psychology Department, offering teaching sessions, trainee placements and input to the development of the course curriculum. Our service is also part of a network of Clinical Psychologists who work within Leicestershire partnership NHS Trust, including psychologists in adult mental health, perinatal and maternal mental health, families and young people, learning difficulties, neuropsychology, health psychology and a specialist forensic service.
