Catering Manager Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Catering Manager to join our team at Holroyd Howe, a leading contract caterer providing fresh and innovative food services to independent schools and colleges.

The successful candidate will have a background in exceptional food catering services and a passion for creating delicious dining experiences that fuel young minds and ignite taste buds.

As a Catering Manager, you will work closely with your teams to develop a great work relationship and provide the best customer service. You will be responsible for collaborating with the back of house team to develop well-balanced and nutritious menus, preparing and managing the catering budget, and establishing strong relationships with school Bursars, Head Teachers, and faculty.

You will also be responsible for recruiting, training, supervising, and motivating catering staff, ensuring compliance with food safety regulations, hygiene standards, and quality control protocols, and identifying opportunities for growth, innovation, and improvement in menu offerings, service delivery, and operational efficiency.

We are looking for a candidate with excellent presentation, organisational, and communication skills, who is able to demonstrate a real passion for food and service and possess bags of enthusiasm.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the back of house team to develop well-balanced and nutritious menus.
  • Prepare and manage the catering budget.
  • Establish strong relationships with school Bursars, Head Teachers, and faculty.
  • Recruit, train, supervise, and motivate catering staff.
  • Ensure compliance with food safety regulations, hygiene standards, and quality control protocols.
  • Identify opportunities for growth, innovation, and improvement in menu offerings, service delivery, and operational efficiency.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience as a General Manager or Deputy General Manager in a high-volume, quality-focused environment.
  • Ability to demonstrate that managing, training, and supporting a team has been an important part of your career to date.
  • Financially astute, with excellent analytical and budgeting skills.
  • Excellent coaching, delegation, and influencing skills.
  • Ability to prioritise multiple projects in a fast-paced, multi-faceted, creative environment and thrive under pressure.
  • Ability to multitask, prioritise responsibilities, and adapt to changing circumstances in a fast-paced environment.
  • Meticulous organisational abilities and a high attention to detail.
  • Empathetic, clear, and highly effective verbal and written communication.
  • Ability to adapt to challenges and opportunities with a solution-oriented perspective.
  • Excellent strategic thinking and critical reasoning skills.
