Catering Manager Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Catering Manager to join our team at Holroyd Howe, a leading contract caterer providing fresh and innovative food services to independent schools and colleges.

The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing menus that cater to diverse dietary requirements and preferences, while ensuring cost-effective operations and maintaining quality standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the back of house team to create well-balanced and nutritious menus.
  • Manage the catering budget and drive commercial performance.
  • Establish strong relationships with school Bursars, Head Teachers, and faculty.
  • Recruit, train, supervise, and motivate catering staff.
  • Ensure compliance with food safety regulations, hygiene standards, and quality control protocols.
  • Identify opportunities for growth, innovation, and improvement in menu offerings, service delivery, and operational efficiency.
  • Maintain a clean and organized kitchen environment.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience as a General Manager or Deputy General Manager in a high-volume, quality-focused environment.
  • Ability to manage, train, and support a team.
  • Financially astute and analytical, with experience creating and maintaining budgets.
  • Excellent coaching, delegation, and influencing skills.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple projects and thrive under pressure.
  • Meticulous organizational abilities and attention to detail.
  • Empathetic, clear, and effective verbal and written communication.
  • Ability to adapt to challenges and opportunities with a solution-oriented perspective.
  • Excellent strategic thinking and critical reasoning skills.
