Oxford, Oxfordshire, United Kingdom Oxford Ionics Full time

At Oxford Ionics, we're pioneering advancements in quantum computing by leveraging trapped ion technology and proprietary laser-free quantum control methods. Our fully integrated quantum processors can be fabricated within standard silicon foundries, allowing us to leverage high-performing qubit technology while ensuring scalability and manufacturability.

We're seeking a Quantum Computing Systems Architect to play a pivotal role in shaping the future of our quantum computing systems. As a key member of our team, you'll bridge the gap between theoretical research and practical implementation of quantum error correction (QEC).

About the Role
  • QEC Research: Develop resource estimates for fault-tolerant quantum algorithms, build models and simulations to inform low-level system requirements, and design experiments to validate QEC methods in small-scale systems.
  • Team Collaboration: Work closely with experimentalists to integrate lab findings into architectural designs, and effectively communicate updates and insights across interdisciplinary teams.
  • Documentation and Communication: Produce technical documents such as architecture white papers and QEC R&D roadmaps, and present research findings to technical and non-technical audiences.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a strong background in QEC research and a track record of contributions to the field. You should have deep expertise in QEC, scientific computing skills, and experience in developing and running simulations. Collaboration with experimentalists, bridging theoretical insights with practical experimentation, is essential.
