Job Summary


We are seeking an enthusiastic and compassionate Consultant Psychiatrist to join our team at the Chichester Centre, Low Secure inpatient services. The successful candidate will work closely with a multidisciplinary team to provide safe, supportive care to patients.


Main Duties



  • To act as an Approved/Responsible Clinician for patients subject to the Mental Health Act (MHA). Manage a caseload of 15 inpatients and carry out assessments as required.
  • Participate in the weekly referrals meeting and undertake assessments for suitability for admission to Low Secure Unit (LSU).
  • Liaise with statutory and non-statutory agencies to assist in the management of mentally disordered offenders.
  • Offer training to professionals.
  • Participate in the on-call rota.
  • Develop a clinical leadership role within the Multi-Disciplinary Team (MDT) and across the service, working with colleagues and management to ensure optimal service delivery.
  • Participate in business planning for the locality and contribute to the broader strategic and planning work of the trust.
  • Lead the improvement of quality of care within the team and system.
  • Provide assessments of prisoners thought to require hospital admission.

  • MB BS or equivalent medical qualification.

Desirable



  • Qualification or higher degree in medical education, clinical research or management.

Eligibility

  • Approved clinician status or able to achieve within 3 months of appointment.
  • Included on the General Medical Council (GMC) Specialist Register or within six months.

Benefits


We offer a competitive salary of £123,796 per annum, plus a £25,000 Recruitment and Retention payment. This is paid in four instalments: £5,000 on appointment, £5,000 at 12 months, £6,500 at 30 months, and £8,500 at 48 months.


Relocation allowance of up to £8,000 available. The trust also offers flexible working arrangements and a range of benefits, including opportunities for professional development and continuous learning.
