Weekend Cook Position

Cook at St Josephs Approved Premises, Eccles, Manchester
Approved Premises (APs) contribute to the effective risk management of people released from prison by providing an enhanced level of supervision, monitoring and rehabilitation within the community. The post will provide you with experience of working with complex and vulnerable people and an understanding of residential settings within the Criminal Justice System.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan, prepare, cook and present meals to residents
- Follow recipes well and have a good experience in volume cooking
- Ensure routine day-to-day and specialised cleaning of kitchen equipment, work surfaces, kitchen floors and storage areas
- Control waste with regard to preparation and cooking
- Maintain the highest standards of health, hygiene and safety
- Manage and control all food, including receiving and checking stock, checking equipment and materials are used correctly, closely monitoring portion control
- Collect routine data as required and perform daily checks, including temperature control during production, preparation, service and storage
- Report all accidents, near misses, damage or breakages to the Catering supervisor
- Ensure the Catering Department is opening and closed at the required times and secured when not in use
- Undertake any other tasks appropriate with the duties and responsibilities of the post
- Attend any relevant training sessions to ensure you are fully equipped to perform your role effectively
